Wire as Hair, part two

What possible evolutionary purpose does the sprouting of long ear hair serve in older males? Anyone?

I've got at least one more riff on this subject.
-------------------------
My friends over at d'Arte Board asked me to mention that they are having a little art contest starting today. No blue ribbon if you win, but they will feature your site, blog, or whatever. Go ahead, they're nice people... well, except for one guy, but he's mostly harmless.

My Dear Comb

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many fun works were created for the last contest. Only one could win though, and so the winner of the little pill artist is Melissa. I really enjoyed and connected with her story, that's all.

Thank you to everyone who bothered to reply to my request for your personal stories and observations about art. Such good work. Some clever ones, some with great feeling, and many helped me understand how other people view all the art around us.

I encourage other visitors to read the winning entry, plus all the others here.
-------------------------

Oh, and another thing about the image above- the comb wasn't even a buck when I bought it. *rim-shot*

Adopt him?

Does anyone remember this little character? I made him about two years ago, and I called this image "Drugs and Art Don't Mix" (not true for many I'm sure, but it is the case with me. Well, besides caffeine.) Sounds a little "Nancy Reagan-esque" (Just Say No!) now that I think about it, but I thought it was amusing at the time.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone would like to adopt him for the small price of amusing us here at Bent Objects. Write a little something about the joy that art brings to your life (no sucking up by mentioning Bent Objects!). Your favorite artist, painting,
song, whatever.

In the end, I'll upset most everyone by picking my favorite. It's always a hard decision. Then I'll ship the little character to your doorstep, anywhere in the world.

Give it a try?

Tickle Fights, and The Golden Age Of Man

Lost in the mists of time is an age when civilizations were truly civil, and violence was unthought of. Confrontations were all settled with epic "tickle fights", or in more drastic cases- "tickle wars". For weeks and months at a time, laughter would echo throughout the land. Eventually, surrender would be announced by the leader of one of the armies, through the official proclamation of "Stop! I think I just peed a little!"
------------------------------

I bought these figures a few weeks ago with this idea in mind, but was then hesitant. It breaks my rule of not having any pre-made figure be the star of any image. But then I remembered my other rule about creating - There shouldn't be any rules. Duh.

-------------------------------
After over 850 votes, the winner of the object nomination process was "Knitting Needles". We truly pushed the Blogger Poll gadget to it's limits. The knitting and crocheting communities really battled it out, and this was with "crochet hooks" somehow ending up on the same line as "salt and pepper shakers". There were a couple of glitches like that, but we all lived to tell the tale.

It was interesting to me to watch the neck and neck race of "live animal" and "bacon". You can be sure that even though there was only one official winner here, many of these objects will make their way into images down the line.

Thanks to everyone for voting!

And a Hello to the many Chinese visitors who have visited the blog lately. I know there are some of you who can read this, so I wanted to say thanks for stopping by!

Holy Crap!

Vote for an object in the poll to the right.  I was going to have one more day of nominations, but geez, we have more than enough.

There were a couple of nominations that I didn't list (you know who you are, you nasty people). There may be a day that you see those somewhere else.

Thanks for everyone's participation.

Edit- Yeah, I know the list is pretty much insanely long, and I won't do it again like this, but I believe it may be the longest list poll in Blogger history!   A record BentObjects.blogspot.com will cherish.  You've got to admit, It's kind of an intriguing thing to look at.  ( Plus, this blog pretty much earns it's living by being kind of screwy, so it's not too much out of the norm.)

2nd Edit- After twelve hours of voting over a Sunday night, we've got 161 votes, a couple of glitches, and some complaints about the poll.   Train wreck or no, press on, dear friends, because I'm not redoing it! Let's just see what happens.

It's time again for you to nominate an object!

What object would you like me to incorporate into an image?  I get stuck in a rut occasionally, so I enjoy hearing ideas from you Bent Objects visitors.

The big rule- It has to be something that I probably already have in the house , or can be purchased cheaply.  Please don't mention your ideas of what I can make it into or whatever.  That's the fun part for me.

I'm going to do this a little different than usual.  Mention your one (1) object idea (if you mention more than one, I'll only count the first mentioned).  Monday evening I'll post all of them in a long list for people to vote on the following day.

I look forward to your ideas with interest!

Little Lighter Lizard

Not quite a dragon, but close enough I guess. I bought this lighter months ago, and it's been waiting for me to use it in an image.

Here's how it looked before I photographed it breathing fire.

Just after I took the shot with the flame, the flame burnt his little face and made this unfortunate deformity. I made it so I can change lighters, luckily. Not that I'll be letting him burn again. Lighters aren't made to burn sideways like this! Ha!

Chemo, on a good day.

Willy manages to keep a cheery outlook.

Dedicated to our good friend and neighbor, Lou.
