Random fact: The Romans onomapoeaed ravens' cries as "cras" which means "tomorrow" in Latin. Poe knew this, and his narrator asked the Raven when he would see Lenore again, expecting to get the answer in Latin, "tomorrow." Which explains why he was asking a bird such an absurd thing in the first place.
As one whose name is a play on "raven," I love it. And thanks to Mad Gastronomer for the explanation of why I got tortured in school every year with "Nevermore."
